The Road America Karting Club (RAKC), Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, opens its 2012 season on May 12, with a non-points race for all of the classes that participate in the club’s Weekend Series and the Tuesday Evening Series.

The club campaigns on the Blain’s Farm & Fleet Motorplex on the grounds of “America’s National Park of Speed,” Road America.  This challenging track is generally configured to be run at a length of .8 miles.   At times the course changes as circumstances dictate.

Several of RAKC’s races are in conjunction with events taking place on the big track. For the Weekend Series, which includes Kid Karts, 2-cycle and 4-cycle classes, there will be nine point races through the season.  It starts on Saturday, May 19 in conjunction with Road America’s Spring Vintage Weekend.

The next race, on Saturday, June 16, will be run under the lights on a slightly shortened circuit.  More onlookers than usual can be expected at this race date,  as the famed SCCA June Sprints will be wrapping up for the day and many racers and fans from that famed group come to see the future of racing.

July 21 and 22 is the popular doubleheader weekend.  During this even over-night camping will be allowed on the grounds.

August will see a busy stretch for the club as they will run August 4, 11 and 25; all Saturdays.

Sunday, September 16, will be a Sunday go for the club as they run race number eight.  The season then wraps up the following Saturday with another evening race on September 22, in conjunction with the SCCA Runoffs.

For each event at the Blain’s Farm & Fleet Motorplex, teams and fans must check in at gate 4, off County Highway J.   Check the club’s website for complete and up to date details for both the Weekend Series and Tuesday Evening Series on the club’s website at www.rakartclub.com .
